What are the Benefits of Eating Chicken?
While many of us know that chicken is high in protein, we’re often not aware of the various other health benefits that this white meat has to offer. When it comes to diet, chicken is a particularly good option if you are trying to lose weight. This is because it is one of the lowest calorie meats but also offers high protein.
Per 100g, chicken breast typically has 165 calories, 3.6g of fat and 31g of protein. This is compared to beef, which has 250 calories, 15g of fat and 26g of protein. As you can see, chicken has almost 100 calories less than beef, a quarter of the fat and more protein. It doesn’t take a nutritionist to work out which is the healthier choice here. For example, chicken will help you consume fewer calories. In addition, it will also fill you up, support muscle recovery and growth.
Chicken also contains lots of other essential vitamins and minerals, and is particularly rich in B vitamins. For example, Niacin, and Vitamins B6 and 12 all play an important role in energy production, and all are found in high levels in chicken.
The healthiest way to eat chicken is grilled or baked. If you want to achieve or maintain a healthy diet, above all, try to avoid fried chicken.
Not just great for lunch and dinner, this lean meat also makes a great snack option. While you might think there are only a few ways you can make a chicken snack, we have loads of ideas to help you keep your diet fresh and interesting.
